Welcome to a new year! This is going to be a tremendous year of growth for your little one. We are excited to be a part of it.
ARRIVAL: The beginning of the school day tends to set the tone for the day. Our school day begins at 8:30. Please try to arrive no later than 8:15. This will give your child enough time to unpack and play for a few minutes or just calm down a bit if the morning has felt stressful.
Bloomz App: Please download the App and use the access code included in your welcome packet. I use the app to post reminders, share pictures of our school days, and communicate with you. It is also a handy tool for parents to communicate with each other. Please make sure to enable notifications for the App.
Folders are a very important tool for your child. Students are expected to carry and unpack their own bags in the morning and bring their folder into the classroom. The folder will go back and forth between home and classroom daily, even when it is empty, simply to reinforce the routine. You can help by giving your child reminders.
Attendance. Please send off a quick email to Nurse Clarissa Nelthropp, copied to Ms. Cerni or send a quick message on Bloomz, as soon as you know that your child will be absent. Also, please include reason of absence. We try to check in if we have not heard from you, but can only do that once we have a quiet moment in the day. If your child has a fever, the expectation is that s/he is fever free, without medication, for 24 hours before returning to school. Your child is an important member of our classroom, so absences are felt. While we fully understand that it is sometimes hard to avoid traveling during the school year, fewer absences are always better.
Snack/Lunch: Please send several snacks. We always encourage healthy snacks first, especially fruit and veggies. No candy or soda, please. For lunch, we do have a microwave here and I am happy to warm up meals for my students.
Have a fantastic school year!!
