A little about Ms. Anneliese Cerni:
I was born in Brooklyn, New York, but grew up living in Chile and Switzerland before returning to New York. My mother was born and raised right here on this beautiful island and my father is German. I am a single mother to two amazing children - who are all grown up! My son, Daniel (almost 26), graduated from The George Washington University (see Meet Mr. Daniel, for more on him!). My daughter Nadia (24) is about to begin her journey towards her Masters Degree in School Psychology at Columbia University. At home (between my parents and my own) we have 4 cats and 2 dogs and 7 Red Footed Tortoises. Yes, we love animals!
I attended German school until about 7th grade while living in Santiago and Geneva. And (fun fact), once upon a time, even spoke with a German accent! I went to high school at the United Nations International School in New York and earned my Bachelors Degree at Simmons University in Boston. I have a Masters Degree in Education, specializing in Early Childhood because this is truly where it all begins!. This is my ninth year teaching at GHCDS and my 22nd teaching overall.
Finally...
Thank you for entrusting me with your child’s education. While the obvious goal is to prepare everyone academically to move forward, the more immediate goal, as I see it, is to make sure my young learners feel safe, comfortable and confident as they work towards achieving those academic milestones. I am really looking forward to this new year.
