A few highlights of our week:

Star Student:
Our Star Student is Ghalia (aka Gigi)! Her Birthday was on November 11th. Ghalia's favorite color is blue and her favorite food is chicken and broccoli pizza! In her free time, Ghalia enjoys coloring, swimming, and Roblox. Her favorite sport is soccer. When Ghalia grows up she wants to be a firefighter!

Paths: The Number Line:
Unit  4 of Math is well on the way! Please check the attached “Unit 4 Overview” to see what our focus is for this unit. This week was all about numbers 0 to 10 and putting them in the correct order. We played a fun game “Read My Mind” where Ms. Cerni thought of a number and the class tried to guess. The only clues that could be given were “greater than” and “less than” hints. We also introduced a new Work Place (4A) “Scrambled Numbers One to Ten”

Reading: Now that we have completed our introduction to lower case letters and sounds, we are also learning to use everything we know about letter sounds to blend them together and make three letter words. We've also been learning some high frequency words and played around with rhyming words! Busy week!

Global Perspectives:
How can we be healthy? The class talked about what it means to be healthy. Everyone agreed that exercising was important and also eating healthy foods! At the end our young learners talked about healthy activities and made pictures of beach outings with the family, fishing at the pier, playing soccer and many more. It's a great time to continue the conversation at home and work together to make healthy choices - healthy foods, active lifestyle (minimal screen time), and enough rest!

SEL: In her monthly lesson, Ms. Bird focused on resolving conflict. After giving the class several examples of what conflict is and letting the class share their thoughts on resolving it, Ms. Bird had our young learners act out several scenarios. It was fun to watch them get into character. Who knew we had such good actors in Kindergarten!

  • ART:  We made the cutest red nosed reindeer this week! We think of it as a type of self portrait (If I were a reindeer...) Everyone was excited to try.
They colored, glued, added antlers and the results are absolutely adorable. Check out the Kindergarten windows when you have a chance.
