A Peek at our Week:
Show and Tell: This week both Talia and Isaiah were in the spotlight. Talia brought a "Doctor kit" complete with a Stethoscope, a microscope and some other small items. There was also a syringe which sparked a discussion about how everyone felt about needles and some even shared their strategies for when they have to get a shot. Isaiah then presented two plants from his garden. One was a cute, little cactus plant. The other one though, stole all the attention. That one was a Venus Fly Trap. The class was fascinated and someone even asked if Isaiah had ever been bitten by the plant! Fortunately he was able to answer all the questions.
Gardening with Ms. Christina: Ms. Christina came by for some gardening time and a little "How to plant sweet potato review". Some in the class did remember that we use the sweet potato 'eye' to plant more sweet potato! In the garden they explored a bit, munched on some basil and then all agreed that an iguana is likely munching on the certain greens in the garden. Finally, every had a chance to plant a sweet potato slip.
Bunny Time! We had a very special guest in our classroom this
week! To the delight of the whole class, a bunny, curtesy of Jasper and Ms. Christina hopped around our 'pond' rug for a bit. Everyone pet him and fed him some Kale and even got to hold him like a baby! Not surprisingly, bunnies are now on everyone's list of favorite pets!

Math: It's worth mentioning that we did some hard work in Math. This was 'story problem' week. We worked through several problems as a class. It was really challenging for many to have to show HOW they came up with their answer. It got even more confusing when they got a more abstract problem which did not have just one correct answer. They did a great job of working on these problems, even though it was frustrating for them at times.
